Makarova playing Serena at Aussie Open. She had four match points that evaded her in a game in the second set. Then the camera focused on her face just before her next serve and I could see in her eyes she would get this match point. She did. Did she know?

9 Wands – Vitality, shamanistic ability to travel to the underworld or the heavens and return with knowledge & wisdom leading to development of pranic energy.

Most of the day, I felt lost, wandered the streets of downtown St Pete looking for furniture then traveled through downtown Tampa with Nanc looking for another thrift shop and spent a half hour going in circles, waiting for trains to past, getting lost due to dead ends and one way streets only to find the shop and realize it was within walking distance of the store we had been in before! Later at home, I spilled wine on my Tarot deck. Later in the evening, I struggled to play a NetFlix DvD which had been automatic the evening before. Even Eric could not get it to play during a quick telephone tech session. Yet when I restarted my computer after dinner, the movie played as usual. What’s the message here – continue to remain centered, go with the flow and “restart” if necessary? What would “restarting” look like for me.

My wife tells me of a conversation she had this morning with a person we both know about a self development game she had recently played with friends. As I listen, I realize that the game incorporates some of the principles I’ve discovered and am writing about – messages that answer questions or address issues we are facing now come to us in many ways and settings if we are awake and open to them. The process of the game seemed to mirror a Tarot reading – receiving messages through cards that are selected based on questions important to us. This person also acknowledged she realized that she has many people to forgive and even more important, she has to forgive herself to be open to change, self development and transformation. It felt like she was writing my book and I was excited to learn that there is already an audience waiting for what I have to share.

Open ended meditation without the steps of the Practice led to the following questions and my responses.

How do you know that a message you receive is not just a personal thought of yours?

A message from the Cosmos feels different than one of my thoughts. It is formed completely and instantly without the need to develop and refine it. Messages may come from the Cosmos as a feeling or thought but has this different feel and experience about it. Messages are also almost always new; not something I’ve thought and considered before. They may trigger new feelings and thoughts. Thoughts, feelings and intuitions are embedded in messages. It’s the only way we can receive them.

How is a message recognized?

They are highly energized; true to my core being; reveal something without thinking, working by me; meaningful to my life; automatically life changing; positive and supportive; not a thought that has to be developed and integrated; not a memory. They also fit the context of a living, loving, developing Cosmos – go out and kill X is not a message.

Can you give an example of a message and a thought?

Message: create an activity that allows you to be more of your true self.

Thought: Open a bookstore in city X with these types of books.

 Message for today

Messages come suddenly and unexpectedly and we can receive them if we are awake and aware. A helpful message came this way today. My wife and I spent half an hour trying to find a small unmarked beach near the channel for which a friend had given us incomplete directions. We found what we thought was the parking lot but there was no beach to be seen, just a small boardwalk that followed the channel along a private residence on one side and a tennis court on the other. Realizing we would need more specific directions we left the area and on the way out decided to stop and look over a dune at another beach a short ways down the street. As I got out of the car a woman was walking into the parking area with a dog. I felt an urge to ask her about the other beach. Her face lit up as she enjoyed giving me the directions I needed to find the beach that was along the boardwalk, hidden by the tennis courts. I thanked her and the Cosmos.

Find the material in your life that is the First Matter of the alchemists, the gold of your inner self that will allow you to transform all things.

Become aware of what energizes you and hold it close to you.

Grow something.

I continue to be more aware of my facial expression during the day and will find ways to remind myself daily – set up twice daily alerts on my smartphone.

After completing a message to my online students, I paused before sending it when my inner voice alerted me to check it one more time. I found two mistakes that would have been embarrassing for my students to see. Minor message but also a major realization.

Changed meditation for today. Used just breathing to center myself. One message came: View the world as going through all of the seven alchemical phases. One alchemist goes through the phases sequentially to find the Stone. The seven phases are being activated by the billions of people in the world and the world itself. The Stone is the culmination of all of this energy.

Be open to and record messages throughout today. Here’s what came through:

I responded to the urge to fix outgoing mail on my iPhone. Although my belief in my technical know how is limited, I trusted my instincts to do this and was successful! It amazed me because tech staff from two different organizations had been unable to do this. I realized I do not really know who I am.

A reoccurring rash is one way to say no to the Cosmos and our True Selves. Today I said no to the rash and it went away.

Listening to my Small Voice, I took my coffee cup out of the microwave early and it was heated to perfection.

Going against what I thought best and most effective, I went along with my wife driving us around in a new area of Tampa at night to find the “right” restaurant for dinner and she did just that.

I was able to be more present and helpful for my online students by letting go of their lack of attention in the course to things like directions, spelling, deadlines. The Cosmos has been urging me to do this for some time now.

By sitting back in a telephone conversation with our realtor and listening instead of asking a series of questions, I was able to confirm my perception of his position.

Here’s what I “heard:”

My call to The Tampa Bay Times and long wait to try to get a copy of Sunday’s paper which had not been delivered to the news stand box this morning was frustrating. Once I got the message and realized there were more important things to focus upon, I immediately hung up, relaxed, refocused and went on with my day.

I found a white feather walking near the bay. There are many interpretations of what finding a white feather means. For me, it is a confirmation that I’m traveling on my higher path and one of my wishes has been granted.

Talking with a fisherman, William, near the pier in the evening about “his dolphins” that came to swim near him, I realized the deep, permanent connection we have with other life on the planet.

We found out today that the condo we had put an offer in to buy – Unit 207 – went to someone else. It was very disappointing but the refrain from the Rolling Stones drifted through my consciousness: “ You can’t always get what you want. But if you try sometimes well you might find you get what you need.” We believe “our condo” is waiting for us to find and buy it.
